Man in Toronto charged over 'rooftopping'

A man in Toronto has been charged by police for a dangerous stunt atop some of the city's tallest buildings.

The man, known to followers as Oleg Cricket, was arrested and charged after "rooftopping" in central Toronto.

His antics were captured on video and the 1min29sec film, titled At the TOP of Toronto, Canada, was shared to YouTube this week, attracting more than 170,000 views.

During the video, Cricket - who has been doing stunts, gymnastics, acrobats and martial arts since the age of 16 – can be seen sliding and spinning along the edges of a tower, while also jumping across large gaps and doing somersaults on beams.

The stunts, and others like them, have been shared on social media, as the craze gains momentum.

The man was charged with break and enter as well as mischief under $5000, globalnews.ca reports.

Another man was charged with possession of break-in instruments.

When contacted by Global News, the man thought to be Cricket said: "I work only on a commercial basis, the interview is worth $500".

Police in Toronto – and throughout the world – have called for an end to the dangerous rooftopping stunt.
