Man dumps 'cheater' girlfriend by faking marriage proposal

An epic breakup video has left a "cheating" girlfriend all the more salty after her brutal dumping attracted more than six million views online in less than a week.

"The best dumping video of a cheating girl you will ever see" was posted to YouTube on November 27 and it picked up some serious momentum as two million more people than the population of New Zealand joined in to see how "Alex" would get ditched.

The 16-minute video starts in earnest at the halfway point when the British woman called Alex comes home from work to her eager boyfriend, who has already filled in the audience with his intentions.

"What Alex doesn't know is, I found out she has been having an affair," the man known only by the screen name beanyneilpudsey says.

His plan is to make Alex think he is about to propose, but the question he truly intends to ask is far less flattering.

When she gets to her room, the boyfriend has handwritten letters prepared on pieces of pink cardboard cut in the shape of love hearts.

As Alex reads the cards, sobbing in excitement at the impending proposal, the boyfriend films on his mobile phone and waiting for the punch line on page four of his "love notes".

Alex can be heard repeating the words on the cards before the final reveal, which says "When owls fly and tweet tweet twoo, this is the big question I’m asking you".

She peers up at the camera before turning to the next page and seeing what she expects to be a marriage proposal.

However, what she gets instead is "Who the f--- is (the name of the other man)".

The girl is ashen-faced as she realises what just happened.

Meanwhile, the boyfriend closes the door and trots down the stairs while the Roxette ballad 'It Must Have Been Love (But it's Over Now)' fittingly plays in the background.

The legitimacy of the breakup has not been verified, but the video does provide viewers with an entertaining couple of minutes.
