Man bites off chunk of stepdad's ear in fight over Andy Murray’s nationality

A tennis fan has bitten off a chunk of his stepfather's ear during an alcohol-fuelled fight over whether Andy Murray is Scottish or British.

The argument left blood smeared across a north Scotland living room after Lee Clarke, 34, savaged his stepdad's face during a family gathering in Inverness, north Scotland, last August.

"I have nothing against the Scots, most of my family are Scottish. But I regard myself as British. Andy is British, but he is also Scottish," Lee Clarke, 34 said after admitting to assaulting Alistair Wilson, 54, Daily Record reports.

Wilson salvaged the bloody chunk of his ear which surgeons managed to reattach, however, the graft didn't take and eventually needed to be cut away.

Clarke appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court, where the sentence was deferred until July 28 after the magistrate heard details about the incident.

"Alcohol and anger were factors," defence solicitor Clare Russell said.

Russell said her client has been involved in a car accident which had left him unable to work after developing epilepsy.

The solicitor added that Clarke was remorseful and hoped to rekindle a relationship with his stepfather.
