The Spanish manager of a London Borough Market restaurant has been described as a hero for blocking the door to a knife-wielding terrorist as he attempted to reach people inside.

CCTV images published by Spanish media reveal how Sergio Farina herded people from the street into Arthur Hooper's restaurant then stood guard on the door as the attackers rampaged through the market on Saturday night (UK time).

As members of the public sought refuge inside the restaurant Farina and other staff start to close and lock the doors.

Moments later one of the terrorists, dressed in a stripy top, tries to force his way through the door, but Farina shoves back, blocking his entry.

Just a few seconds later the man was shot by police.

The Spaniard has lived in London for 16 years and praised the response of British security forces.

“The police acted rapidly. In three minutes the terrorists were surrounded by officers prepared for this. They took measures very quickly," he said, according to the Galician newspaper Diario de Pontevedra
