Up to 30 injured in massive London bonfire explosion during Jewish Lag BaOmer celebration

Up to 30 people are believed to have been injured following a large bonfire explosion during a Lag BaOmer Jewish celebrations in north London overnight.

Hackney Police originally confirmed at least 10 people had suffered minor injuries after a large fire, that was created as part of the celebrations in Stamford Hill, exploded.

"Ten individuals suffered minor injuries following large fire lit as part of local Jewish community celebration in Ravensdale Road, Stamford Hill," police said in a statement posted to Twitter today.

"No criminal allegations reported. No serious injuries."

Vision of the incident shows hundreds of people gathered around the blaze, which appeared to be contained, before it exploded - sending balls of flame flying out over the crowd.

The explosion may have been caused by a mobile phone, according to a report by the UK's Daily Express, which reported the incident earlier.
