Thunderstorm turns One World Trade Centre into lightning rod

The One World Trade Centre in New York has been struck by lightning twice in one afternoon, treating residents and tourists to a spectacular sight.

A thunderstorm hammered New York overnight, with US Today Show reporter Anthony Quintano snapping two shots of lighting striking the tower peak.

Flash flooding closed a number of roads and delayed flights out at a number of major airports including Kennedy and La Guardia.
