Las Vegas CES: Samsung unveils borderless and 'completely customisable' TV

It's one of the biggest technology events of the year, and Samsung has kicked it all off with a bang.

A Current Affair is in Las Vegas for the Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

I was lucky enough to attend CES and Samsung's First Look event last year when the company released The Wall, the world's first modular TV which uses Micro LED technology to produce its picture.

Just like the rest of the lucky attendees, I was so impressed by the TV, I wrote an article and titled it "The Best TV in the World".

Of course, I checked with tech experts before I gave the new TV that glorious title.

One year on, and Samsung has truly outdone itself.

Tonight we were introduced to the latest innovations in modular Micro LED display technology.

The best news is, this year, it's more accessible for consumers.

Firstly, what is Micro LED?

"It's a new TV technology launched only by Samsung that is both modular, meaning the TV can be made in any size and shape, but also have the potential to be a better picture quality because every pixel can be illuminated individually," tech expert Trevor Long, who is also at CES, says.

"Ultimately, it means for a better viewing experience."

As I said, Samsung first introduced the technology last year with the award-winning 146" The Wall.

Impressive, but far too big for you and I to fit in our lounge rooms!

This year, thanks to super scientific technical advancements, Samsung has been able to create a 4K Micro Led display in a more home-friendly 75" form.

"Micro LED is at the forefront of Samsung's consumer TV strategy. The number one benefit is it's completely customisable," Long says.

So how does the quality remain when you increase the size of your TV?

Well, Samsung thought about that.

Their Micro LED technology optimises the content no matter the size and shape of the screen.

Even when adding modules, the display can scale to increase the resolution.

Long says the other noticeable difference for viewers is there's no border.

"No frame, no edge, just TV screen. That'll make a big difference in many Aussie lounge rooms," he says.

CES officially begins on Tuesday here in Las Vegas, and there's no doubt the tech companies will all be putting their best gadgets forward.
