Former NRL player Jarryd Hayne has impressed commentators and spectators at his final pre-season NFL game for the San Francisco 49ers.

The former Parramatta Eels player made a formidable impression with rugby league moves in today’s game against the San Diego Chargers, played to a roaring crowd at Santa Clara’s Levi Stadium.

Hayne tackled rival players around the ankles and even broke through in the third quarter, drawing the attention of commentators.

“I bet he’s a tough guy, what do you think?” one commentator asked.

“I wouldn’t want to deal with him in an alley, that’s for sure,” the other replied.

Hayne said he realised his potential future in the NFL was now almost out of his control.

“We’ve got one more session tomorrow, then it’s going to be family time,” he said.

“Whatever happens, happens. I don’t control the future.”

Hayne also told media today’s game was the first time he felt comfortable.

“For the first time I was comfortable and getting the pads low, which was good,” he said.

“I’ve just been working on that the whole time, and to get that down pat and feel comfortable about it was good.”

His mothers and sisters had flown from Sydney to watch the game, and other supporters at the stadium could be seen wearing Hayne’s number 38 jersey.
