James Corden blasted for distasteful Harvey Weinstein jokes

Comedian and talk show host James Corden has found himself in hot water after he was called out by Rose McGowan on Twitter for making jokes about Harvey Weinstein.

McGowan took to Twitter last night to blast the host of the Late Late Show for jokes he made at a Hollywood charity event on Friday, local time.

Corden was hosting the amfAR Gala in Los Angeles - a charity event for AIDS research - when he made a string of quips about Weinstein and the sexual misconduct allegations made against him.

“It’s so beautiful (in LA) Harvey Weinstein has already asked tonight up to his hotel to give him a massage,” Corden said on stage at the event to a mix of laughs and groans from the crowd.

“I don’t know whether that groan was that you like that joke or you don’t like that joke,” he continued.

“If you don’t like that joke you should probably leave now.

“It has been weird this week though hasn’t it, watching Harvey Weinstein in hot water? Ask any of the women who watched him take a bath, it’s weird watching Harvey Weinstein in hot water.”

He went on to make jokes about allegations made by former Fox News reporter Lauren Sivan, who accused Weinstein of masturbating in front of her into a potted plant at a New York restaurant.

“Harvey Weinstein wanted to come tonight, but he'll settle for whatever potted plant is closest,” Corden said to more groans.

McGowan, one of Weinstein’s accusers, tweeted that Corden's jokes show “EXACTLY what kind of HOLLYWOOD you really are”.

Italian actress Asia Argento, another of Weinstein's accusers, chided Corden on Twitter, saying “shame on this pig”.

Corden has since said he intended to shame Weinstein and called his behavior “inexcusable”.

Corden and Weinstein are well-known friends who have worked together in the past. Weinstein was executive producer of the 2013 film One Chance, in which Corden starred as the Britain’s Got Talent winner Paul Potts.
