Iraqi forces foil Mosul-bound car bomb

Iraqi forces have managed to foil an ISIS car bomb attack west of Mosul in the lead-up to Christmas.

The Popular Mobilisation Units, an Iraqi state-sponsored coalition of mostly Shia Muslim militias, spotted the vehicle-borne improvised explosive device in desert land west of Mosul.

Several militants fired rounds from their machine guns until the car eventually exploded.

The militia can then be heard cheering and celebrating once the car bomb has been forcibly detonated by them.

The PMU were on high-alert for vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices entering the city after a trip car bomb attack by ISIS killed at least 23 people at a market on Thursday.
