Creepy photos of a floating McDonald’s restaurant abandoned 30 years ago in Canada have gone viral amid plans for a secret makeover of the “McBarge”.

The restaurant, was built for $12m and opened as part of a World Fair held in Vancouver in 1986.

The novelty quickly wore off the attraction and it was abandoned soon after the expo.

Urban explorers posted the photos to Reddit last week, reigniting interest in the floating oddity.

The owner of the McBarge recently announced plans to renovate the restaurant and reopen it for business.

The cost of the renovations is expected to be about $2.6m and the restaurant’s future location is being kept a secret.
