Indonesians welcome 'Bali Boycott', call for boycott of Australia

Indonesian social media users have hit back at Australians who want to "boycott Bali" by telling them they don't want them there anyway.

In the months leading up to the execution of Australian drug traffickers Myuran Sukumaran and Andrew Chan, Australians have threatened to shirk their favourite overseas holiday destination with the hashtag "Boycott Bali".

The campaign was given new life following the news that Chan and Sukumaran had been put to death yesterday.

But Indonesians and Balinese in particular seemed to welcome the idea of fewer or no Aussies coming to their island paradise anyway.

The idea of a Bali without "drunken" Aussies who indulge in recreational drugs and who show no respect to their indigenous citizens sat well with many.

Some Indonesians even proposed the idea that they should "Boycott Australia" and block their nation's shipping lanes to Australian vessels.

Yet with all the accusations surrounding the use of illegal drugs, one user pointed out the product that was killing most people.
