Chinese nine-year-old takes bus on 90-minute joyride

A nine-year-old Chinese boy has taken a bus on a joyride through the busy streets of Guangzhou, but remarkably managed to avoid hitting anyone or anything.

Pedestrians looked on in incredulity as the little boy took the stolen bus around town on Friday afternoon.

One onlooker's video showed the bus's side door smashed open, which may give some indication as to how the boy managed to get aboard, Shanghaiist reports.

The bizarre sight was reported to police at 1.13pm, but it took until 2.44pm before they were able to intercept the bus and apprehend its juvenile driver.

The boy was not charged with any crimes and released to his parents.

Police are now investigating how he managed to commandeer the vehicle.
