Grenfell Tower survivor reunited with man who saved her

A grandmother who was carried from the blazing Grenfell Tower by a brave neighbour has been emotionally reunited with her rescuer.

Luca Branislav picked up Clarita Ghavimi, 66, and slung her over his shoulder and carried her out of her 11th-floor flat as the fire began its deadly rampage through the north London tower block last Wednesday.

Mrs Ghavimi, who live in Grenfell for 34 years, attempted to find and thank her heroic rescuer in the aftermath of the blaze which has a current death toll of at least 79 lives.

Video released yesterday showed how the pair met again in an emotionally-charged reunion.

Footage showed them hugging each other, with Mrs Ghavimi saying: "I opened the door and you grabbed me."

He tells her: "You couldn't breathe properly. You been in shock completely. It was just the perfect timing."

Earlier Mrs Ghavimi had told the Evening Standard how she had attempted to escape at 1.30am after being roused by fire alarms but could not make her way through the thick smoke in the communal hallway.
