A driverless bus rolls freely through a station, no driver in sight, moments before colliding with a parked truck.

The incident took place at a Toronto bus station, bemusing onlookers who wavered from amusement to dismay when they saw the bus was on a collision course with the parked vehicle.

One local filmed the bus’s eerie ride and the video is gathering attention online.

"Come on … and, there she goes," says the man who captured the incident on camera.

A sickening crunch can be heard as the bus connects with the back of the white truck, drawing shocked cries from bystanders.

"That's what happens when you don't drive the bus."

Any suspicions of paranormal activity were dismissed by Toronto Transit Commission spokesperson Sarah Currie, CBC News reported.

"A bus was left unsecured by an operator at our Bathurst Station ... and it rolled away making contact with another TTC vehicle,” Ms Currie said.

"We are investigating to determine the cause of this."
