German MP Sahra Wagenknecht has been struck in the face with chocolate cake during a far-left Linke party meeting in Magdeburg on Saturday.

The attack is reported to have been due to her tough stance on migrants - calling for a limit on the number of migrants Germany should accept.

She had the cake thrown at her face while sitting in the front row at a party meeting. Officials flocked to block media cameras with jackets as she sat stunned by the brazen attack.

The Anti-Fascist Initiative “Cake for Misanthropists” is alleged to have been behind the stunt, and distributed flyers detailing her position on migrants as their motive, according to the BBC.

It’s not the first time a political member has been attacked with cake – Beatrix von Storch of the anti-immigrant Alternative for Germany party and EU lawmaker was hit in February by men in clown costumes.
