Galloping moose races alongside US snowboarder

A Colorado snowboarder has filmed the moment a charging moose came barrelling down the slopes towards her.

Cheri Luther was recording herself and a friend snowboarding at Breckenridge Ski Resort when the large animal joined them mid-run, local broadcaster KDVR reports.

Ms Luther’s video shows the wild animal galloping up alongside her, and Ms Luther can be heard screaming in surprise before managing to stop.

The moose does not appear to notice Ms Luther’s actions, and continues to run down the slope.

“It was a crazy sight to see and definitely one we won't forget!" Ms Luther wrote on Instagram.

She said she believes the moose’s appearance was coincidental and that the animal was not in fact chasing her.

Moose can weigh up to 700kg and can become aggressive if provoked or startled.
