More than $200,000 has been raised in just hours to help arrest a murdered woman’s killer in New York City.

Karina Vetrano was jogging in Queens, New York City, on August 2 when she was murdered.

Ms Vetrano’s killer is yet to be found, leading the New York City Police Department (NYPD) to announce a $20,000 reward for anyone with information leading to an arrest.

Her father, Phillip Vetrano, began a GoFundMe page earlier this week to increase the bounty.

“I’m pleading with the public…we need to raise this money very quickly,” Mr Vetrano wrote on the page.

Nearly 3000 people donated to the “Karina Vetrano Memorial Reward Fund” overnight.

A staggering AU$272,000 has already been raised.

Mr Vetrano, a retired fireman, told NY Daily News “someone knows something”, and warned the unidentified killer would “pay dearly”.

“You will pay for an eternity,” he said.

The NYPD’s investigations into Ms Vetrano’s murder are ongoing.
