A group of men have formed a human chain to rescue a dog from drowning in a reservoir.

The small black dog was trapped at the bottom of Sairan Reservoir in Kazakhstan capital Almaty last Thursday, Russia Today reports.

As one man stood next to the dog to stop it running away with fright, the rescuers joined hands near a guard rail and pulled the pooch by its collar to safety.

The dog was most likely saved from drowning, as it would have been unable to gain a steady footing on the smooth, steep concrete wall that enclosed the reservoir.
