Four US boys branded heroes after rescuing dog bound with bungee cords

Four US boys have been celebrated for their heroism after they came to the aid of a found dog tied with bungee cords and abandoned behind a house.

The young Detroit residents were reportedly helping a woman move when they sighted the dog and rescued her.

The dog was taken into the care of Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue (DPCDR) shortly thereafter.

The video of the group congratulating the boys, posted to their Facebook page on March 26 has since been viewed tens of thousands of times.

“You could tell they really love this dog,” DPCDR founder Theresa Sumpter told WDIV.

“They really were protective of the dog and wanted to make sure the dog was going to a good place.”

The dog – named “Sparkle” by her rescuers – was underweight and suffered some hair loss on her hindquarters but otherwise appeared to be in good health.

She will be receiving a veterinarian check up, after which she will be transferred to Pet Tales Rescue in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where she will eventually be listed for adoption.
