Four firefighters injured in Brooklyn blaze

Four New York City firefighters have been injured while battling a townhouse fire in Brooklyn overnight.

Dramatic video shows a number of firefighters battling the blaze from the steps of the Brooklyn townhouse block, as a piece of the roof of the burning apartment tumbles down on top of them.

One firefighter can be seen toppling backwards down the stairs after being hit in the head with the falling debris.

CBS reported, that while three of the injured four firefighters were rushed to Kings County hospital, none of them men are suffering life threatening injuries.

Firefighters were filmed spraying water hoses through the windows of the building, against flames that lapped the façade, while smoke billowed through the sky.

The inferno which engulfed the first three floors of the building erupted at around 12:30am and burned out of control until around 3am.

Although 10 residents were evacuated, no civilians were injured during the blaze.

The cause of the fire still remaining unclear.
