Flash floods kill one, strand thousands in US

At least one person has been killed and thousands stranded by raging flash floods in the US.

The floods tore through southern California, causing huge damage to roads and tearing down trees.

One body has been found in a car swept into the water, with thousands of residents and tourists in the area also stranded.

No further injuries or deaths have been reported, but rescue crews are continuing to clear the debris.

Several people had to be airlifted to safety as the flood approached.

Some houses have been buried with mud and a group of 500 campers, including children, stuck without power at an isolated campsite, US media has reported.
