Five dead after plane overshoots runway and crashes in Colombia

Video has emerged of the chilling moment a plane crashed in Colombia after it overshot the runway during takeoff, killing five and injuring one.

 The Civil Aviation Authority said the crash involving the AeroSucre Boeing 727-200, with six passengers on board, occurred at 5.23pm local time (9.23am AEDT) yesterday in Puerto Carreño.

Footage taken from a motorbike rider near the runway appears to show the plane just prior to take-off, before it disappears from shot. A loud bang can then be heard.

Other mobile phone footage from further away shows the point of impact, before the plane goes up in flames followed by plumes of black smoke.

The CAA reported the captain, the co-pilot, a flight engineer, dispatcher and forklift operator were among those killed.

One other, also a flight technician, will be flown from a hospital in San Juan de Dios to Bogota.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation.
