US man jailed over deadly butt implant

A fake doctor has been jailed after a botched butt implant operation was blamed for a woman's death.

Kevin Richardson, 47, pleaded guilty in May this year to a range of charges including second-degree manslaughter and unauthorised practise of a profession, the New York Daily News reported.

He performed a gluteoplasty procedure on Latesha Bynum, 31, when she asked for silicone injections on July 15 last year in New York.

Ms Bynum lapsed into a coma as a result of the procedure and died two weeks later.

Richardson, who initially fled New York, was jailed for a maximum of 12 years.

Authorities allege Richardson also performed illegal injections on other women.

A woman, Allison Spence, has been indicted on manslaughter charges relating to Ms Bynum's death.
