Farting cows cause explosion at dairy farm

A hoard of gassy cows has caused a methane explosion at a German dairy farm.

The 90-strong herd's flatulence problem ended up setting fire to a dairy farm's shed, damaging the roof and injuring one of the animals.

High levels of gas had built up in the structure when suddenly a "static electric charge caused the gas to explode with flashes of flames," German police said in a statement.

One cow was treated for burns.
