Epic half-court shot beats the buzzer

The NBA may be the cream of basketball, but even the lowest tiers of the game can occasionally throw up a play to rival the very best.

And such was the case during a recent French third division clash between Coteaux du Luy and Hagetmau Doazit-Chalosse (HDC) when a player delivered a miraculous half-court buzzer beater to win the match.

With only seconds remaining and the scores locked at 78-80, HDC was awarded three free throws and a chance at victory following a foul outside the key.

Up stepped the shooter, who managed to land two shots and level the scores.

But just as the match appeared destined for overtime a Coteaux player latched onto a throw-in and with a running leap launched what appeared to be a wishful shot from just inside his own half.

To the amazement of the tiny crowd and the player himself, the ball sailed straight through the hoop to give Coteaux a thrilling 83-80 victory.

The play has proven a hit on social media and earned the unknown shooter a place among the game's great buzzer beaters.
