British singer Adele has choked back tears dedicating her entire concert to the Orlando gay nightclub massacre victims.

The 28-year-old multiple Grammy winner almost began to cry as she paid tribute during her show in Antwerp, Belgium, a day after more than 100 were killed and injured at the Pulse nightclub.

"The LGBTQ community, they're like my soulmates since I was really young so I'm very moved by it," she said as she tried to maintain her emotion.

"I don't know why I'm crying already because most of this tonight is pretty miserable because my songs are f------ miserable. I do have two songs that sound happy, but they're not."

Numerous celebrities have paid respects to the victims of the largest mass shooting in US history.

Gay icon Ellen DeGeneres posted the simple but poignant message on Twitter: "Sobbing."
