A grandmother in the US has proven that you’re never too old to find love.

At her 50th high school reunion in Massachusetts 84-year-old grandma Phyllis Opper ran into her old Provincetown High School classmate, Nate Workman, TODAY.com reports.

It wasn’t long before the pair fell in love and walked down the aisle.

They announced their engagement at a birthday dinner for Ms Opper’s granddaughter Lindsay’s boyfriend.

Lindsay said she could not be more excited for her grandmother, and best friend, for whom she said a speech at the wedding.

“As a teenager, I learned that it's never too late for love," Lindsay said.

She described how her grandmother had had a case of the “schoolgirl giggles” ever since meeting up with Mr Workman at the reunion.

“I didn't think it was possible for my grandmother to become even more beautiful, but Nate has cast the most magnificent light that shines through her smile and sparkles in her eyes,” she said.
