Dutch cyclist cheats death twice

A Dutch cyclist has cheated death twice – switching his tickets and managing to avoid boarding two doomed Malaysia Airline flights.

Maarten de Jonge, 29, was supposed to be on flight MH370 and MH17 but ended up changing his flights for both journeys at the last minute.

"What has happened is terrible, so many victims. That’s a horrible thing," Mr de Jonge wrote on his website.

Despite his second brush with death Mr de Jonge told the Netherlands station RTV Oost he is planning to take another Malaysia Airlines plane this week and as no fears for his safety.

"You should try not to worry too much because then you won't get anywhere," he said.
