A squad of rugby lads denied entry to a pub in the UK have been filmed packing a scrum and attempting to force their way in.

The intoxicated group, captured on a night out in Pontypool, South Wales, was turned away from JD Wetherspoon because they were too drunk.

Not to be deterred, they formed a scrum and put all their alcohol-fuelled might into pushing their way through the door.

It's not clear whether they thought as far as planning what would happen once they got inside.

The bouncers, who appear to be reasonably stout chaps themselves, manage to repel the onslaught.

"We've never had a group trying to rugby scrum their way in before," the pub's Eddie Gershon told UK newspaper The Sun.

"However we are pleased our well trained door staff managed to rebuff them from coming in."
