Drunk mum eyes trouble after failing sobriety test

Police in Florida have released dashcam footage of a mother behaving erratically during a sobriety test after she was pulled over for allegedly driving drunk and drug affected.

In the footage from Palm Beach County Sherriff's Office, Brandy Lerna is seen swaying and tripping as she struggles to remain upright.

Lerna's arrest went viral last week after police released an image of her wide-eyed mugshot to the public.

According to the Palm Beach Post, the 31-year-old was allegedly driving under the influence with a three-year-old child sitting in the back seat without a seatbelt.

In the police report, one of the deputy's said: "I was greeted with an extremely strong odour of an unkown type of alcoholic beverage. The odour grew stronger as she spoke."

Lerner allegedly recorded blood alcohol levels of 0.200 and 0.187, twice the legal limit of 0.08 in Florida. She also told deputies she took a pain killer, a sedative and had consumed two shots of whiskey.

She was charged with driving under the influence and child abuse and was released from the Palm Beach County Jail on a US$3000 bond.
