Drone films monster boulders' trail of destruction

Stunning aerial footage has revealed just how unlucky an Italian family were to lose their home in a freak rock fall.

Wild weather dislodged three boulders from a hillside in the northern Italian town of Termeno on 21 January, sending the house-sized rocks marauding down the steep slope.

Drone vision shows how the boulders carved a deep gash in the hillside, flattening trees and rolling straight over a house – the only one in the street.

The author of the video has made an appeal on behalf of the unidentified homeowners, calling the landslide "devastating" and asking for people to "please help the family!"

While a large section of their home was destroyed, mercifully one enormous boulder stopped centimetres short of flattening the rest of the building.

And in another stroke of good fortune, no one appears to have been injured.
