Trump claims hole-in-one at his own Florida golf course

Donald Trump has claimed to have hit a hole-in-one at one of his golf courses in Florida.

The former president issued a statement describing in detail the moment witnessed by golf legend Ernie Els as well as several other professional players.

"I hit a 5-iron, which sailed magnificently into a rather strong wind, with approximately 5 feet of cut, whereupon it bounced twice and then went clank, into the hole," Trump said in the statement.

"These great tour players noticed it before I did because their eyes are slightly better, but on that one hole only, their swings weren't."

His spokesperson Taylor Budowich posted video of Trump in his post-presidency retirement ensemble of a white polo and red cap, strolling up to the hole and retrieving his ball.

"That's great," he said.

He did not disclose who won the round.

"I won't tell you who won because I am a very modest individual, and you will then say I was bragging—and I don't like people who brag!" the statement read.

The hole is described on the Trump International Palm Beach website as an "unassuming par 3" that "has thwarted many quality rounds".

"The player must carry their ball over water that guards the front and entire right side of this one shot hole," the website states.

"The green sits angled left to right from the teeing ground and swirling winds place a premium on club selection."
