Dog almost strangled by leash caught in lift door

A camera has caught the horrifying moment a dog was strangled almost to death as its owner tried desperately to free its leash from an elevator door.

Footage shows the woman with two dogs enter the lift and select her floor unaware that the leash of one of her pets has been caught.

What happens next is like a nightmare, as the elevator begins to move and drags the dog by its leash to the top of the door.

In a moment the dog is dangling helplessly from the ceiling as its owner begins frantically to try and free it.
