Diver films shark attack

A diver in the Caribbean has fought off a determined shark after the predator repeatedly attacked him as he collected lion fish.

The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday somewhere in the West Caribbean Sea, where the diver who filmed the attack was culling lion fish.

A video of the ambush posted online the same day, shows the diver's hand impaling a fish with a spear at a depth of around 20m when he suddenly yells and turns sharply to see a small shark preparing to attack.

The diver manages to keep the animal at bay by prodding at it with his spear but the determined predator comes back at him a number of times.

The creature, reported to be a Caribbean reef shark, could have been drawn to the diver because he was carrying around a bag of dead and dying lion fish.

The video ends with the diver retreating back to the surface as the soundly vanquished shark swims away.
