Diners hit by blocks of rubble as a roof collapses at a Spanish cafe

A large chunk of roof has collapsed onto a group of diners in Spain leaving one with severe head injuries.

Four men and two women were enjoying a meal at an outdoor table of a café in the Spanish city of Badajoz when two large blocks of cornice collapsed, hitting two of them in the head, Hoy News reports.

One man slumps forward in his chair while another hobbles away clutching his head. The rest of the group jump back from the remains of damaged chairs and tables.

Possibly afraid of a further collapse, two people race back to lift the injured man and drag him to safety.

Spanish news website El Sol de Nayarit reported the injured man was rushed to hospital with severe head injuries.
