'Oops. He got hit by his own car'

An alleged drunk-driver in the US has run himself over with his vehicle while trying to escape police last week.

Fairfax County Police Department in Virginia has released dash cam footage of a police chase where officers tried to pull over a car on Sunday.

The driver allegedly sped off and then got out of his car to flee but did not turn off the vehicle or, at least, put on the handbrake.

He ran in front of the vehicle only to be run over.

“Oops. He got hit by his own car,” police said on the Fairfax County Police Department Facebook page.

“He’s okay physically, but is charged with drive while intoxicated (third offence) and a long list of other charges.”
