Dashcam captures terrifying car robbery

A dashcam has captured what appears to be the moment four armed men attempt a highway carjacking in South Africa.

The brazen effort took place in broad daylight on a freeway in Fordsburg, Johannesburg on May 30.

The footage shows a white Volkswagen Zetta slow down in front of the victim’s vehicle, forcing the car to stop in order to avoid hitting the Zetta.

Four men armed with pistols quickly dash out of the car and move towards the car behind them.

Others slow down to have a look but are told to move on by one of the armed men.

Details are sketchy as to what actually happened, if any shots were fired, or if anyone was injured, as South African Police have been unable to locate a case number, reported news24.com.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo warned motorists to be vigilant.

"Motorists need to be aware of their surroundings at all times. It was a difficult situation to get out of, however, the best method of preventing a situation like this is for the driver to keep a large enough following distance from the vehicle in front of them," he said.
