Crocodile wanders into Peruvian building site

It's not every workday you encounter a crocodile on the job, but that's what happened at a building site in southern Peru when one of the reptiles wandered in.

The unusual sight occurred in the city of Puerto Maldonado, in the Madre de Dios region, on Tuesday and was captured on video.

The 2 metre croc captivated construction workers who downed tools to take a closer look, Reuters reports.

The reptile apparently wandered over from a nearby canal connecting the site to a local ranch.

Video shows one of the workers bravely taking hold of the head of the croc while a workmate took his builder's tape measure and recorded its length as other men look on.

Two men then lifted the crocodile into the back of a ute before it was handed to forestry workers which took it to the Madre de Dios zoo.
