Cownappers pull off hatchback heist

CCTV video has emerged of thieves stealing a cow in India using only a small hatchback.

In the footage posted to LiveLeak today, the cunning carnivores are shown reversing the tiny car into a property in Magalore, Karnataka.

A large cow follows them up the drive and peers through the door while one of the passengers clears out the back seat.

The man, taking advantage of the creature's curiosity, gives it a shove from behind and somehow manages to manoeuvre it into the car.

He then shuts the door and joins the cow inside, before driving off with his prize.

What happened to the cow remains a mystery.

It is suggested the thieves planned on killing it for food, a practice banned in certain parts of India.
