Conor McGregor denies attempted sexual assault allegations

Irish mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor has been questioned by police in France over a case of alleged attempted sexual assault and indecent exposure.

McGregor's lawyer told Agence-France Presse his client had been released without charge.

McGregor was arrested and questioned after a complaint was received on Thursday, the prosecutor's office in Bastia, on the Mediterranean island of Corsica, told the AFP in an emailed statement.

"Following a complaint filed on September 10 denouncing acts that could be described as attempted sexual assault and sexual exhibition, Mr. Conor Anthony McGregor was the subject of a hearing by the gendarmerie services," the statement said.

Prosecutors said they had ordered further investigations after his interview and "as a result of the information gathered by the investigators".

The statement gave no details on McGregor's release.

McGregor's manager Audie Attar told the New York Post he was furious about the allegations.

"I am irate and putting out a warning loud and clear: Conor McGregor is not and will not be a target for those seeking to score a headline or a payday," Mr Attar said.

McGregor announced he was retiring from professional mixed martial arts in June.
