Companies with female board members worth more: study

Companies that have women on their boards far out-perform those with only men, a new report has revealed.

A report by Credit Suisse found companies worth more than US$10 billion that have at least one female board member, on average, outperformed those that had no female presence by 26 percent.

The report examined the increase or decrease in a company’s share value between 2005 and 2011.

The outperformance was greatest in the Asia-Pacific region, with 55 percent.

From 2012 to June 2014, companies with at least one woman on the board have out-performed male-only companies by 5 percent.
