Colombian helicopter destroyed after landing in minefield

A Colombian army helicopter was destroyed when it landed in the middle of a minefield set up by guerillas yesterday, killing four soldiers on board.

The UH-60L Black Hawk was carrying 15 soldiers in an operation against guerrilla movement Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia.

When the chopper touched down in a field in rural Teorama, it was unaware the area was hot with mines allegedly laid by the FARC.

The moment was captured on video by another helicopter's camera.

FARC have been deploying special upward exploding mines targeted at destroying landing helicopters.

Six soldiers were injured along with the four killed.
