Chinese toddler falls five floors onto blanket

Quick-thinking neighbours have saved a Chinese toddler after he fell five floors from an apartment balcony.

The accident, which happened in the city of Dongguan last Wednesday, occurred after the boy had locked his grandmother inside the apartment during a game of hide-and-seek and climbed onto the balcony, CCTV reports.

Video of the incident shows the boy, named as Xiaojing, putting one leg over the rail as a panicked crowd gather beneath and stretch out a quilt.

"Do not move, little kid! You do not move!" a person cries out as police dash inside the building.

The boy then falls off as the crowd scream in horror, but lands safely on the quilt.

"They caught him!" someone yells.

The boy did not suffer any injuries.
