Chinese woman nearly killed when distracted by smartphone

Pedestrians being distracted by their smartphones is nothing new but a video out of China is a smart reminder of the dangers of being too engrossed in your own world.

A woman in Jiangsu province was captured on surveillance cameras of a parking lot at a hospital wandering along staring at her smartphone. She walks right into a car lift as a vehicle drives out.

The lift then descends, taking its unwitting passenger with it, where another car drives in, knocking the woman to the ground.

Luckily, per local media, a security guard heard her cries for help, pressing the emergency stop button.

The woman was rushed to hospital with leg injuries.

She in now in a stable condition.
