CEO on camera repeatedly kicking friend's puppy

A multimillionaire CEO has been forced to publicly apologise after surveillance video showed him repeatedly kicking his friend's puppy.

Des Hague was pictured sticking his boot into a Doberman then yanking it up by a leash inside an elevator in an apartment building in Vancouver, Canada, news station WTSP reports.

Mr Hague heads Centreplate, a $6 billion company that provides snacks at sports and entertainment arenas. As chief executive, he is responsible for 30,000 employees.

Since the video was made public, Mr Hague has agreed to attend counselling for anger management and said in a statement that his actions were out of character.

"I am ashamed and deeply embarrassed a minor frustration with a friend's pet caused me to lose control of my emotional response," he said.

"I would like to extend my apology to my family, company and clients, as I understand that this has also reflected negatively on them."

Mr Hague is not facing any criminal charges.
