Cat walks away from building after going down with it after fire

A cat in Canada has been filmed using one of its nine lives by somehow walking away unharmed from a building that collapsed spectacularly during a fire.

Witness David Katcsma filmed the moment the building came down after fire destroyed the Towers Hotel in Manitoba on Thursday, CBC reports.

As firefighters douse the front of the hotel with their hoses a cat named Sylvester can be seen pacing back and forth behind a window.

As the edifice crumbles to the ground in a large cloud of dust another onlooker says "poor cat".

Seconds later the weary feline emerges from the rubble and walks across the street where stunned spectators try to pat the black and white animal as it meows in apparent distress.

"That'll be an experience you'll never forget," a witness says.

After spending the night at a local vet's clinic due to smoke inhalation Sylvester was reunited with its owners yesterday.

The hotel's 25 guests were also relocated and no one was injured in the blaze.

Police said they have detained a man in relation to the fire while their investigation continues.
