Car slides down hill backwards, flips

A driver's determination to get up a steep hill has proven costly with the hapless motorist's car rolling backwards uncontrollably before flipping over.

The driver of the small silver hatchback was edging up a weathered road on a narrow street and was almost at the top when the force of gravity kicked in.

After nearing the crest of the road the driver appears to have hit the brakes, losing all momentum instantly and beginning to roll backwards perilously.

As barefooted children watched on from outside their homes the car began to slide towards some the houses on the other side of the road, getting air as it backed over a slightly-elevated driveway.

The bump proved disastrous as the vehicle was flipped onto its side, sliding down the middle of the road and rolling twice.

It is unclear if the driver was injured in the failed hill-climb attempt.
