Boy walks away after car runs over him in China

A six-year-old boy has managed to avoid injury after being run over by a driver in China.

Surveillance camera footage shows the boy playing on the road in Jining, Shandong Province, when a car drove right over him last Wednesday.

The video, obtained by BBC News, does not offer any indication the driver knew he had just run over a small child. The boy is seen afterwards picking himself up and stumbling off to safety as he clutches his back.

Police said he survived because he could fit under the vehicle's belly and tire axles.

The child's grandfather told the BBC he cried when he saw the footage.
