US computer thief steals devices right in front of guards

A brazen thief in Philadelphia snatched two iPad tablets right from under the noses of store security guards.

Philadelphia Police Department yesterday released CCTV footage of the incident on July 14 at an AT&T store.

The video begins showing the young African-American male, wearing a hooded sweatshirt and carrying a white plastic bag, entering the store.

He walks past a security guard and then returns holding two iPad Pro computers in full view of the security camera.

He successfully places one device in the bag and then turns to leave, but stops and puts the bag on the ground while he squeezes the remaining iPad inside.

The thief then casually walks out the door only seconds before a security guard strolls into view.

A police statement said the thief cut chains that secured the devices in the store.
